January is the best month to get organised, it’s also the month that get’s you ready for the rest of the year. So I find it very important to have a productive January which sometimes becomes a struggle when I’m lacking motivation. I have a love/hate relationship with motivation, I’m either completely obsessed and motavited or I seriously lack any motivation to the point where I can’t keep myself on track. It’s something I’m working on so I thought I would share with you 5 tips on how I stay motavited in my personal life and for my blog.
ANALYSE! ANALYSE! ANALYSE!
Despite what some people may think a lot of effort and work goes into blogging, so you want to track your results and make sure your hard work is showing progress. It’s also a good way to see what days your content works best on, it will also give you a chance to see what topics on your blog had the most engagement. Reminding yourself that you are achieving something and people are reading your blog will encourage you to keep blogging!
Even if you don’t have a blog I would encourage you to analyse whatever it is you want to focus on. Analyse the things/people around you, analyse what is getting in your way or stopping you from achieving what you want to achieve.
It’s important to keep track of your progress but it is also very important to reward yourself for each milestone you cross, no matter how big or small it may be. Whether it’s hitting 20,000 followers on instagram, completing your 100th blog post or even working with a brand you have wanted to work with since starting your blog. You have achieved something, so reward yourself! When you celebrate every little victory you will work with more positive energy and it will motivate you to achieve your next milestone.
Interact with your followers & Get social.
I can not stress enough how important it is to interact with your followers, after all they are the readers! By responding to all your instagram comments, your tweets and blog comments you are showing your readers you are interested in what they have got to say. It will also show them you are engaged which will make them want to come back and comment more. This is another great way to grow your following and now instagram gives you the option to like comments you have no excuse to ignore your followers now.
Keeping your blog content update to date is important yes but getting social is also very important if you want your readership. The majority of bloggers readership comes from instagram now, so when you have a new blog post why not share it on social and promote it across social. Your objective is to encourage others to share your information and to engage with you.
This is probably the most obvious one out of them all but it also the one which is going to make you stay on track.
Plan ahead, if you know certain seasons/events are coming up plan your content and put it in your diary. This way you are working ahead and will keep you on track when organising content.
Look after yourself.
I find looking after yourself is one of the key tips on staying motavited. So make sure you are eating well, having plenty of sleep and drinking plenty of water. Pretty obvious I know but this are some of the things that lack attention when I’m busy. Another great way to look after yourself is exercise. I find going to the gym helps me feel motavited and prepares me for the day. Not only is it good for your personal appearance but it’s a good chance for you to clear your mind and take time to switch off from everything else.
If you are anything like me and switch off at the thought of any form of physical activity then I recommend starting off small.
- Sign up to your local gym. I signed up to a gym in another town, it was nicer and I knew people who went there so thought this would motivate me to go but when you are struggling to go to the gym in the first you definitely won’t travel a few extra miles to go so make sure you sign up to the gym nearest to you.
- Buy a new gym wardrobe. I’m not saying you have to go out and spend silly amounts of money on new gym clothing but buying yourself a nice new gym outfit that makes you feel and look good will make you more willing to go out. Trust me it works. I treated myself to a new pair of gym leggings from Maniere De Vior before joining the gym again (for the 3rd time) and you will be surprised at how such a simple thing will make you more motavited to show up to the gym.
- Start Small. When I say go to the gym I don’t mean you have to run a marathon and lift weights the size of your head. Simply start small with a run on the treadmill and have a short 15 minute workout until you feel comfortable in your settings. Then each time you go stay for 10 minutes extra and before you know it you will be doing an hours work out without noticing.
- Don’t be too hard on yourself. Don’t feel like you have to keep up with everyone else in the gym. Remember these people have probably been going to the gym for much longer than you have and you’re not in competition with them.
