With the seasons changing it means it’s time to pack away the summer dress and sandals and reinvest in our A/W wardrobes.
For me personally this is my favourite time of the year, especially when it comes to fashion. I love layering, jumper season and all the autumnal tones that we start to see.
When it comes to updating my wardrobe for new pieces, ASOS is always the first place I visit. Not only do they have endless brands to choice from but their own ASOS design collection is always a big hit for me.
Usually when it comes to transitioning my wardrobe I get a little carried away and just end up over ordering (I’m sure I’m not the only one) but now I’ve moved out and have bills and wardrobe space to consider I went into it with rules. I know what you are thinking, rules are boring but it really helped me streamline my wardrobe and made shopping a whole lot easier.
Obviously these rules will change depending on what my end goal is but for this shop in particular I wanted A/W essentials that were versatile, stylish and a must have! Once I have my ‘capsule wardrobe’ I can build on that and buy items which aren’t necessarily essential.
The first item on my list was a good pair of jeans, which for me is the hardest item to shop for. My waist and thigh ratio isn't the easiest to shop for but thankfully I got lucky with the first pair I picked out from the ASOS design collection. I'm currently obsessed with straight leg jeans, gone are the days of the skinny jean obsession. Plus skinny jeans are currently not my friend and I avoid wearing them at all costs at the moment so when I came across a jean with a high waist (an essential) and a stone wash denim I knew these were going to be perfect for Autumn. I thankfully was right and haven't taken them off since, they look so perfect with a pair of boots and fit like a dream.
A big trend for this Autumn is statement jackets so I knew a faux fur jacket had to be purchased and as I previously mentioned I am love autumnal tones so this brown faux fur was perfect. Brown is also a huge trend this season so it ticks two trends off the list.
The last item I had on my list was tops! Nice tops at that.
It's all well and good having the basics (jeans and jacket) but without a nice top your outfit isn't complete. My wardrobe is full of good tee's but one thing I was missing was blouses/shirts so my aim was to find a blouse which I can take from day to night and anything silk is amazing for that. I was really spoilt for choice with ASOS design as they had so many pieces but this buttermilk silk shirt had my name all over it. It was backless, detailed and had a high neck!
