2016 was a good year for me travel wise, I ticked three new holiday destinations off my list and even got to return to one of my favourite holiday destinations. For someone who doesn’t travel often I don’t think I done too badly.
Experiencing new countries and cities last year not only made me step outside my comfort zone but also gave me the travel bug! So the plan for this year? Travel, lots. To do that I need to get myself organised and plan. I’ve found that I am more likely to stick to a plan when I write it down, so at the start of 2017 I made a list of places I aim to visit this year. The first place on my list is Amsterdam.
Amsterdam hasn’t always been a high priority on my places to visit, maybe because most people tend to just go for the coffee shops and red light district which isn’t really my scene but thanks to it becoming one of the most popular tourist destination in Europe I’ve seen a different side to Amsterdam which I am so excited to explore.
What I plan to do;
Explore by foot.
Most tourist destinations have guided tours but one of my favourite things to do is to explore by foot. I find this is the best way to find the cool little streets and the best shops. It’s also the best way to admire the art and capture photos from your trip too
Visit Amsterdam markets.
I have been told on several occasions that this is a must do when visiting Amsterdam. I plan to wake up early and stroll the street markets, buy fresh flowers and have a spot of lunch. The Amsterdam Flower Market is said to be a particularly colourful place in the city and it is apparently the only floating flower market in the world.
Cruise the canals.
I know I said above I prefer to explore by foot, which is true but you can’t go to Amsterdam and not have a cruise on the canal. It’s meant to be the best way to see the city and there are so many different options from Candlelight cruise to private dining cruises or you can even rent your own canal.
This one goes without saying, Amsterdam is any bloggers dream. It’s the ideal location to get amazing content for your blog. I can imagine it’s near impossible to get a bad photo with the charming streets of Amsterdam as your backdrop.
I also plan on visiting visit New York, Venice , Switzerland and Santorini. Where do you plan on going in 2017?
